Canoeing

As mentioned earlier, there are two different ways to experience Denwa river. The first one is the speed boat.
For an authentic experience, canoeing is recommended. Photographers and birdwatchers usually prefer this as the canoe offers a distinctive advantage of exploring deep inside the forest without disturbing wildlife.
A canoe can accommodate 2 tourists and 1 guide who efficiently showcases the flora and fauna of Satpura National Park.
A dawn or dusk canoe ride is advisable.
The primary objective of availing the canoe ride is bird watching in Satpura. The optimum season is from oct – March when Satpura is a wonderful host to migrants during the winter season as well as a variety of resident birds.
It is mandatory to wear a life jacket while excersing a canoe ride.
We categorize the canoe ride into two rich experiences :

  • Bird watching
  • Witnessing the mesmerizing sunrise or the captivating sunset

The usual birds spotted during canoeing are :

  • Ruddy Shelduck aka Brahminy Duck
  • Ringed plover
  • Sandpiper
  • Pied kingfisher
  • Indian thick Knee
  • Little Egret
  • River tern
  • Red Wattled Lapwing
  • Indian Skimmer
  • River Lapwing
  • Black Winged Stilt
  • Wooly Knecked Storks
  • Little Tern

This is also a great activity for the fresh water marsh crocodile spotting.
Satpura is conveniently located in the migratory path between rthe Eastern Himalayas and the Western ghats and is full of birds during the winter season, and the best way to witness is a canoe ride.
A canoe expedition is a must if you are at Satpura National Park.
